“A Story of Hope“ Lizzy was 4 years old and living in Tennessee when she was diagnosed with APML; a rare type of leukemia seen only in 5-10% of children. Her odds for survival were 50-70%, but after not responding to treatment and having many complications her odds were dropped to 25%. After failing experimental treatment in N.Y.C. her odds were dropped to 0% and she was given 2-3 months to live. All we had was hope. Lizzy was 5 years old in Feb. of 1999 when she was given a Stem Cell Transplant. No odds for survival were given, and hope is all we had again. Today it has been almost 7 years, and Lizzy remains in remission and Hope continues to grow everyday! Our hope then as now, comes from family, friends and faith; as Jeremiah 29:11 says “I know the plans I have for you, they are for good and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.” No matter what outcome from cancer may be, the one thing we all share
in common is HOPE! |
